HUMBLE ARMY VETERAN PASSED AWAY JULY 12TH, 2020 WITH HIS FAMILY BY HIS SIDE AND MANY PRAYING FROM AFAR FOR A GREAT WARRIOR “UNCLE NEIL”

HE WAS BORN AUGUST 4, 1933 TO HIS LOVING PARENTS ALBERT AND ANNIE MOSES OF SNOQUALMIE WASHINGTON. RAISED WITH 13 SIBLINGS AND MANY FRIENDS AND FAMILY. A TULALIP TRIBAL MEMBER WERE HE LIVED HIS LONG LIFE.

HE BEGAN HIS JOURNEY WITH HIS LOVING MOSES FAMILY. COMING FROM A LARGE FAMILY WITH GREAT TEACHINGS AND BEAUTIFUL CULTURE. HARD WORK AND DEDICATION CAME EARLY, .AFTER SCHOOL HE SIGNED UP FOR THE NATIONAL GUARD. SOON AFTER HE INLISTED IN ARMY 1952 WERE DROVE HIGHER RANKED OFFICERS. THIS SKILL LASTED A LIFE TIME DRIVING THE MOST IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN HIS LIFE. WERE HIS TREASURED MEMORIES WILL FOEVER LAST IN OUR HEARTS.

LATER BEING DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY. HE CAME HOME TO WORK AS A LOGGER, CUTTING SHAKE BOARDS. EVERY GREAT STORY HE TOLD ALWAYS INVOLVED FAMILY, FISHING AND MOUNTAIN LIFE. HIS LOVE FOR THE MOUTAINS GREW WHEN HE MET MARYA JONES MOSES HIS LIFE PARTNER OF 53 YEARS. THIS SKILL OF DRIVING CAME AS AN ART AND DEFINETLY WAS HIS BEST TRIBUTE AS ONE OF THE BEST FISHERMAN. HIS LOVE FOR THE WATER SHOWED. WERE THEY WERE THE GREATEST FISHERMAN. IT PUT TULALIP BAY ON THE MAP. PAVING WAY, OF COMMERCIAL FISHING AND SUPPORTING MARYA IN EVERY ADVENTURE. BEING A ELITE FISHERMAN WITH HIS CREW-CHILDREN BY HIS SIDE MAKING THE MOST HISTORICAL DAYS IN TULALIP BAY. HARD LABOR THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY CUTTING THE TREE DOWN THAT BUILT THE CANOES. CO-CAPTAIN AND DRIVING MARYA WAS SUCH A PASSION FOR HIM. TRAVELING AND BEING A GREAT SUPPORT TO THEIR COMMUNITY. THEIR INVOLVEMENT WITH COMMUNITY HELPED PRESERVE AND REJOICE IN OUR CULTURE. NEIL AND HIS BROTHERS HUMBLY PARTICIPATION IN SALMON CERMONIES. FINE TUNNING THERE DRUMS WITH BEAUTIFUL VOICE THE LEADING MEN AND WOMAN, TEACHING FAMILY’S FROM THE COMMUNITY. MARYA AND NEIL NEVER MISSED A FUNERAL WITH HIS GLORIOUS PRAYER SONG THAT INBEDDED INOUR HEARTS FOREVER. HE NEVER LET THAT BLESSING SONG GROW OLD, FOR IT COMFORTED HIS PEOPLE. BEING CO-CAPTAIN FOR MARYA WAS TRULY AMAZING. MARYA’S TIME WITH NEIL CAPTURED AND BUILT A GREAT FAMILY. RESPONSIBILITY WAS JUST ONE PIECE OF HIS GREATNESS. HOW HE CONNECTED WITH MARYA’S CHILDREN LEFT A BLESSING FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY. HE WAS A SMOKE HOUSE DANCER AND HIS BEST TIMES WAS WITH HIS BROTHERS AND KENNY MOSES SR SITTING AROUND A FIRE. PROUD TO BE A VETERAN HIS LONG TIME FRIENDSHIP WITH ALL PRESENT AND PAST MEMBERS OF TULALIP HONOR GUARD WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. ANOTHER TRIBUTE HE SHARED WITH MARYA BEING A GOLD STAR MOTHER BY HIS SIDE.

HE WAS A ANCHOR FOR HIS FAMILY “ANGELS” ALWAYS SUPPORTING FINANCIALY NEVER ASKING MUCH FROM THEM BUT TO STAY HAPPY. HIS SMILE ALWAYS SHOWED HOW PROUD HE WAS OF HIS LOVED ONES.

HIS HONEST HUMBLE QUALITY WILL BE MISSED YET NEVER FORGOTTEN. HIS CARE GIVERS AND FAMILY THAT SHARED HIS LIFE, WILL ALWAYS REFLECT ALL THOSE SHINING QUALITIES. FOR THIS BLESSING IS OUR BLESSING. HIS NEPHEWS/GRANDSONS “PALS”. FAVORITE NIECE/GRAND DAUGHTER ANNA MOSES, HE ALWAYS SO PROUD OF NAME SHE CARRIES SO WELL. HE SHARED THE MOST WONDERFUL GUDIANCE AND LAUGHS WITH SOPHIA AND GOOD MEALS. MARYA AND HIS FRIENDSHIP WITH FATHER PATRICK TWOHY AND THE LATE SISTER BARBARA BEIKER KEPT US CLOSE AS FAMILY. TEACHING US PATEINCE ANOTHER STRONG QUALITY HE LEFT US TO LEARN AND GROW FROM. TERESA ALL THE GRANNY STORE VISITS AND REMEBERING BIRTHDAYS, TRAVELING AND CARING FOR HIM DAILY, HE WAS ALWAYS SO GREATFUL TIQ.WSEED

BELOVED BY FAMILY, CHILDREN, NUMEROUS NIECES, NEPHEWS AND FRIENDS. AS HIS JOURNEY STARTS AS HE TRAVELS AHEAD OF SISTER IRENE (WILSON) DANIELS. Duane C. Ike Sr, 75 of Tulalip, WA, went home to Glory July 6, 2020 in the comfort of his home.

He was born Feb. 11, 1947 in Chehalis, WA to Howard and Sally (Purcell) Ike. He was raised and educated in Toledo, WA. 

He was a member of the Yakama Nation. He started working at the age of 14. He worked for various logging companies Tiin – ma; Wheelers; Mistletoe; and Yakima Forest Products. He retired at the age of 63. He enjoyed family gatherings; fishing; hunting; wood whittling; reading; coaching sports; his grandchildren; and most of all studying the Word (Bible). He was a member of the Tulalip Worship Center.

He is survived by his wife Francine Ike; children, Lucille Ike, Sally Armour, Georgia Ike-Taylor, Francis Ike, Lois Ike, Duane Ike Jr., Louis Ike, Trisahna Ike, Travis Vanfelt Wasco, Billy James, Darrin Howard, Gilbert Andrews, Ron Iukes, Billy Herrera, and Jake Britton; and his sister, Lila Loggins. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Rosalind Ike; son-in-law Kelly Joe Strong Sr; brothers, Matthew Ike Sr. and Ted Satanus; sisters Alice Ike, Charlette Wahpat and Helen Smartlowit.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 12:00 Noon at Mission Beach Cemetery. February 11, 1947 – July 6, 2020

March 13, 1940 – July 7, 2020

Dolores Jeanne Gula passed away on July 7, 2020 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family who will miss her very much. Doris was born at the Tulalip Indian Hospital on March 13, 1940 to parents James Tory and Gloria St. Germaine (Jones). Doris lived the early years of her life on and around the Tulalip Indian Reservation and in Seattle. She relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada and then to Los Alamos, New Mexico where she earned her Bachelors in Arts degree from the College of Santa Fe in the early 1990’s. She spent her working years at the Los Alamos National Laboratory until she retired in 2001. Doris relocated back to Tulalip with her husband, Bill, to spend their retirement years surrounded by family and loved ones. She loved garage sales, traveling, family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Bill spent many years traveling to locations within the United States and around the world. Doris is survived by her husband William (Bill) Gula of Tulalip; her children Steven Young, Richard Young (Kris), Dana Krsnadas (Dharma), and Deirdre Marshall; her brothers Mike Dunn Sr., David Tory; and sisters Diane Janes (Bill), Jamie Shockley (Joel), and Pam Hillian (Phillip); her grandchildren Corrina, Krisan, Michael, Jennifer, Seandra, Darrion, Nariyan, Kaviraj, Kalyana, Arjuna, Ambarish, Nathan, Shelby, Rebecca, Samantha, Cidney; and her great grandchildren Marqel, Kileya, Devon, Jaden, Liam, Michael, Keely, Hayleigh, Mykalee, Jaxsyn, Brooklyn, Izaiah, Ross, Presley, Makayla, Chayce, Ryleigh, Izmil, Marilyn, and Drayce.

She is preceded in death by her parents Gloria St. Germaine (Howard) and James Tory (Christine) and her brother, Pat Dunn; daughter-in-law, Wendy Young; and other relatives and friends too numerous to list.

February 15, 1930 – June 26, 2020

Glen Edward Parks Jr. was born in Tulalip, WA on February 15th, 1930 to Edith Percival and Glen Parks Sr. Glen went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loved ones on June 26th, 2020. 

Glen graduated in 1949 from Marysville High School and shortly after joined the Army where he was stationed in Germany. Glen became a Tug Boat Captain for many years. He also spent his life logging, wood cutting and fishing. He was a hard worker, still throwing crab pots at age 85. 

On July 25th, 1970 he married his soul mate, Liza and from there they blended their families with 12 children. They took care of many with unconditional love. Glen was admired for his strength, compassion & humility. He enjoyed sports & westerns and also visiting the casino, living it up. 

Glen is survived by his loving wife and caretaker of 53 years, Elida Lee Parks; Children Teresa, Les (Tracy), Lori, Bernie, George, Roman (DeeAnna), Angela (Don), Lora, DeeDee, Port and Dennis (Christina); over 150 Grandchildren, great-grandchildren & great-great grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Edith Percival and Glen Parks Sr., sisters Phyllis and Nonie; brother Port Cooper; Children Rocky and Charmaine. 

We would like to give thanks to Josh, Danielle, their children & the many others who continuously offered their love and support. Special thanks to Jade and grandma’s girl Jessica. We are very grateful for our son/grandson, Dennis & his mate Chrissy for their help. We also would like to acknowledge our daughter Angela who has been with us 24/7 through this difficult time and that we are forever grateful. We are grateful to have such a large family and love each and every one of you. 

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Tulalip Gym with burial to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.

April 26, 1942 – June 29, 2020

Isaac (Zeek) Kona, a Tulalip tribal member was born on April 26, 1942 in Tulalip, Washington.

He passed away in Seattle, Washington on June 29, 2020 at 78 years of age. 

He was preceded in death by his grandmother Elizabeth “Lizzie” Krise; his parents Isaac and Bertha Kona; his siblings, George Taylor, Ronald Kona, and Genevieve Williams; his first wife, Maryanne Kona; and his children Chelly and Darren Kona.

Zeek was the “Flyin’ Hawaiian crane operator for the Longshoreman’s Union and a Tulalip fisherman. He spent his time loving and caring for his family. His hobbies included baseball, basketball, and cooking Hawaiian style. He enjoyed golfing; trips to the casino, Palm Springs, and Hawaii. He was a respected member of the tribal community and the Elks Club. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta Kona; his son Isaac Kona Jr.; his stepsons, Jon Holland and Andy Fenkner; his siblings, Louis, Reggie, and Larry Kona; his granddaughters Bailey and Mckenzi Moore; his step-grandson, Kai Fenkner; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the Tulalip Gym, 6700 Totem Beach Road, Tulalip with a graveside service to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.

August 12, 2019 – June 24, 2020

Amelia was born on August 12, 2019 to Solomon and Marsha Spencer Sr. in Everett WA.

Amelia was a beautiful baby girl who brought so much joy and light to the world. 

From the day she was born, Amelia was a fighter she was born early and had to spend some time in the NICU. 

Amelia was the little princess that her family had been waiting for. 

She was the little Queen who ran the house.

Amelia had this very contagious smile and laugh anytime you were around her she brightened up your day. 

Amelia was mommy’s little princess, they shared the same spicy attitude. Anytime she wanted anything, she knew how to get her way. She had all her family wrapped around her precious little finger.

Amelia will truly be missed she was taken way too soon. She in now untied with her Daddy in heaven above.

Clayton Willis Alexander Sept. 26, 1965 – March 3, 2020 The Lord blessed us with the life of Clayton Willis Alexander on September 26, 1965 born to Leora and Warren Alexander. The Lord took Clayton gently to heaven with him on March 3, 2020. His life may not have always been easy for Clayton, but nothing ever slowed him down. He lived life to the fullest. He loved all of his family and friends the same way he lived. And his family loved him the same way. Clayton loved hanging out with his family and being outdoors. His biggest hobby was spending time with his siblings. He enjoyed being outside cutting firewood and harvesting cedar bark. He never missed a family gathering. Now that he is with The Lord, he has joined his father, Warren Alexander, grandmother, Bernice Williams, grandfather, Walter “Sambo” Alexander, grandfather, Irven O’Harrah, grandmother, Corrine Steele; uncle, Jerry Alexander, aunt, Clara O’Harrah, aunt, Joanne Runyan, and Uncle Mike O’Harrah; cousins, Robert Cleary, Robin Perry, Dave Hunter; niece, Tara Taylor, great-nephew, Jaymen Taylor. He is survived by his mother and best friend, Leora Vandertie; sister, Tina (John) Crolley, brother, Warren Alexander (Warrine), Tammy Taylor (Lance), brother, Alan Alexander (Angela), brother, Jeff Nissell (Collen); special cousin, Justin Wahlsmith, aunts, Eleanor, Florence, uncle, Harry, aunt, Marlene (Painer), uncle, David, Lynne; daughter, Felicia, granddaughter, Rajalion (Raja) Holland whom he loved unconditionally, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends. Beverly J. Echevarria {1948-2020} Beverley Jean Echevarria died on February 28, 2020. Jeannie was born to parents, Norma Genevieve (Shelton) Rivera and John Vargas Rivera in Tacoma, WA. She started out as a hairdresser. She worked most of her life as an accountant in the financial department in several companies around Seattle, but most recently at Tulalip Tribes Quil Ceda Village for over a decade. Jeannie worked very hard her whole life for the love of her family. She attended and earned her degree at Everett Community College and the University of Washington. She met her husband, Carlos Echevarria in 1968, they then moved to Puerto Rico, Alaska, and the remainder her life in the Magnolia area of Seattle for 40 years. Carlos and Jeannie would have celebrated 52 years married this year. Jeannie was the big sister and mother to her siblings, brother, John Jr. and Carlos and sister, Lydia. She had three children, Carlos Jr, Jesus and Juan Echevarria. They were the true loves of her life. Her joy was sprung up by her grandchildren, having special relationships with every one: Mekalani Lynn, Jesus Antonio, Alexzes Jeannie, Raihan Shibly, Gia Marie and Cameron, as well as one new bundle of joy on the way. She loved shopping for them and spoiling them. She loved sewing, and traveling and studying. A Celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at Greg Williams Court, 6700 Totem Beach Road and Friday, March 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Greg Williams Court. Burial will follow at Mission Beach Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her son, Jesus Antonio; her parents, Norma and John; her brothers, John and Carlos; and her sister, Lydia. She is survived by her husband, Carlos Echevarria of Seattle; Carlos Echevarria and Katie Moore of Tulalip, WA; Juan and Nazmi Echevarria of Kirkland, WA; daughter, Heather Gobin of Tulalip, WA; and her grandchildren: Mekalani, Jesus, Alexzes, Raihan, Gia and Cameron.

October 16, 1986 – February 26, 2020

Kyle was born into this world to Janice & Keith at the University of Washington Hospital, Kyle passed peacefully in the care of Queens Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii where Kyle, like his beloved mother always enjoyed to travel together. It was their second home, and Kyle enjoyed living his life there.

Kyle was charming, beautiful in kindness, in helping others, in bonding friendships and was a joy to all that knew him. From birth, Kyle was a ‘Brave Warrior’, in fighting many challenges of Life. Being born with Spina Bifida, he had many health challenges he faced in life, but that didn’t deter him for who he was and what he believed in. In his youth, along with his Big-Brother Bruce, we enjoyed many special memories of representing Marysville Special Olympics. Kyle loved swimming in which he won State Gold Medal.

As a graduate, class of 2005 Marysville-Pilchuck. Kyle, along with fellow classmates, friends, honored, protected the true essence of Native cultural beliefs and shared his culture to anyone that was willing. Kyle, along with his brother Bruce, always enjoyed being at and helping out at the Tulalip Boys & Girls Club, and working and helping out at the family owned Carr’s Hardware and with his beloved mother at Orca Travel.

Kyles other passion was his love of the sea where he loved to commercial fish with his father when plenty of Sockeye & Chum, Salmon caught. Season’s that were once were and beautiful memories of the Canoe Journey’s he participated.

Kyle was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Janice; grandparents, Bruce Scott, Kenneth Williams; and numerous family members. Kyle is survived by father, Keith, wife, Marsha; his big brother, Bruce (Scotty); grandparents, Darlene Scott, Claudette Parazoo; aunts/uncles Gail, Maurice Libbing, Barbara, David Scott, Charlotte, Kevin Williams, Anthony Williams, Kristy Tara Summers, Frank Summers; Numerous nieces, nephews & special Cousins, Aunties & Uncles.

On behalf of the Scott/Williams Family we wish to thank all the Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Native Liaisons, Teachers, Staff that were a big part of his life and his care.

We also want to specially thank the Tulalip Tribes for making it possible for some of us to travel to see Kyle in some of his last days. For That We Are Grateful.

Rose Marie Sicade April 25, 1940 – February 21, 2020 Rose was born April 25, 1940 in Poulsbo, WA to Marvin and Susie Napoleon Sr. She resided in Poulsbo, Tacoma, and Tulalip, WA. She was a independent, hard-working woman. She picked fruits and vegetables in the fields in the early days of her life, she also enjoyed working at the Puyallup Fair, and she was a partner of a Christmas Tree Farm and worked at Pyrodine Firework warehouse. She was one of the first employees at the Tulalip Bingo when it opened. She later retired from the the Puyallup Casino in the early 2000’s. She moved home to Tulalip permanently shortly after. She was a loving, caring, giving mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin and friend. She loved going thrift shopping, yard sales, also loved to travel with the Tulalip Seniors Center to the Elders luncheons, AMD going to Bingo. She enjoyed spending time, and making memories with her family and friends. She leaves behind son, Fredrick Sicade Sr.; daughter she did bear but raised, Roseann Reeves; puppy, Napoleon; nieces: Tara Parks, Leanndra Napoleon; nephew, Joseph Napoleon; 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, cousins and friends. She enters into heaven with parents Marvin and Susie Napoleon; children: Stanton Sicade Sr., Susan Jones; brothers: Ron, Don, Terry, Marvin Jr., Sam, and Henry Napoleon; sister, Ruthanne; numerous aunties, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be held on February 25, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home. Interfaith services will be at 6:00 p.m. at the Tulalip Gym. Funeral services will be February 26, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Tulalip Gym with burial to follow at Mission Beach Cemetery.
